WEST/EAST All-Star Game
Did you ever dreamt about making a Western/Eastern All-Star ? you can do it. It's a deep process, but it's not that hard. This process is only really interesting for commishes. Are you sure you want to do this ?.......... still there ? Alright, let's kick it off.
first things first: you've got to do your own all-star players selection. the all star switch takes place in statistics.ehm.
In statistics.ehm there's 25 lines per player. 7 (in red) is the player ID. 7 is Paul Kariya. you have to get the ID of the players you want.
How do I get the ID ?? there's 2 easy way to get a player ID.
1- Use the roster editor to edit the roster you use, & find the players in the list, you'll get his ID
2- If the player you want has a link to his profile in the news, edit the news files (news0.tpl being NHL news, & news(1-30).tpl being team news.
Paul Kariya is looking steady with 3 points
in 4 games last week.
Help Help, I'm in the 2020 all my players are computer created, how do I get their ID ?
well you can use the second way to find the player ID right ? good players should have some news about them somewhere.
there's is one other way but it's a little harder:
lines 5 to 14 are regular season stats (thanks to Allen & Tie, for providing me a statistic.ehm breakdown)
now you look at your player profile, & find the player who match the statistics (good luck). If the player you want doesn't have any news about him, & you find more than one player having the same statistics on lines 5-14, good luck to find someone more unlucky than you.
The All-Star Switch
so here's Paul Kariya before an all-star selection. the day of the All-Star Selection, save your game..
0 0 0 0 0 0
& that is Paul Kariya after the All-Star Selection. In red you can see what we'll call the All-Star Switch. -3 (3 being for left wing 1 for goalie, 2 for defenseman, 4 for center & 5 for Zamboni driver... just kidding, 5 is for right wing). Thanks to Greg for finding the switch
So now you can remove, & add all star players. So now make your list, Eastern Guys & Western Guys. check on the NHL news, which player are already selected, & which are not. you will remove the guy's you don't want in statistics.ehm (replacing the -position on the 21st line by 0 & don't mess up with the spaces) & add the guys you want (replacing 0 by - & his position). the team they'll be in doesn't matter at this point, just make the selection.
What we can't do is choose ourselves the starting players, we didn't find any switch. We think that the game just pick the highest OA, or the players with the best statistics in each position.
here's some people I used to test the all star & their ID (it'll save you some work): Joe Sakic: 182, Mario Lemieux: 1542, Mats Sundin: 660, Steve Yzerman: 255, Mike Modano: 230, Peter Forsberg: 183, Doug Weight: 279, A.Yashin: 497, Paul Kariya: 7, Brendan Shanahan: 250, Jere Lehtinen: 225, Alex Tanguay: 178, Pavel Bure: 308, Markus Naslund: 691, Patrick Elias: 468, Mark Parrish: 405, Peter Bondra: 712, Mark Recchi: 526, Teemu Selanne: 32, Brian Rolston: 62, Jarome Iginla: 120, Jaromir Jagr: 572, Bill Guerin: 284, Petr Sykora: 478, M.Hossa: 503, Sandis Ozolinsh: 149, Eric Desjardins: 533, Tomas Kaberle: 672, Al McInnis: 622, Brian Leetch: 437, B.Rafalski: 489, Niklas Lidstrom: 263, Ed Jovanovski: 695, Rob Blake: 344, Mathieu Schneider: 346, Sergei Gonchar: 726, Chris Chelios: 271, Johan Hedberg: 1006, Patrick Lalime: 529, Patrick Roy: 193.
Now watch out the schedule, cause you have to stop the day before the all star week end (the day before the all-star skills competition). Are you there ? ok, should we go on ?
there's is no switch to decide which team the players will be in. In fact they're determined by their countries: Canada, USA for Team North America, & the rest. So basically, you have to change players nationality for 2 days (don't forget to turn them back after the game). don't forget to check which selected are injured, so you can try to find his replacement (I think the game chooses the player with the best statistics in the position), & change it if you don't like him
so Team North America will be Western & Team World will be Eastern (you can do that the other way, lol)
So team Western will be Americans or Canadians. take a paper, & write all the western all star players on it. no check who are american & canadian, so you won't have to edit them
It all takes place in players.ehm
90 89 83 60 66 61 83 83 79 69
I'll take Naslund for example. 5 is for Sweden, you have to switch it to North American player. I personally use code 1 to change a World player to a North American player. so change Naslund country code to 1 (or 2)(I suggested to use a paper to keep the original coutry code, to turn it back quicker after the game).
90 89 83 60 66 61 83 83 79 69
You do the same for your eastern players (I attribute them code 4 but you can use 3 to 20).
Save players.ehm, load your game. you got yourself a Western/Eastern All Star.
