Welcome to Cheat, you are indeed shady to no end and have chosen to do this the easy way. It is not too late to turn back.........ok, you are still reading aren't you? Well, I might as well explain the Cheat method then.
1. Since you have no doubt read the players.ehm 101, or you know the file very well, you know what I mean when I say, open your players.ehm with notepad. This may seem like something you have done before, but there is more to it than some know.
2. Your first instinct is to look at the potential and consistency, that is ok, those are 2 very important numbers in this process, they need to be high or we don't need to look any further.
3. Another thing you will look at is the players potential ceilings, that long line of numbers in line 17. If you are already lost, time to take a detour, go here first and we will see you here again soon....
4. Ok, to those who are still with me, let's talk matching. The potential is good, the consistency is good, his ceilings are good, what now? He looks ok to me? But are we being relevant to the fact here? You have done the obvious and already you have a 75% chance of drafting well on this simple tidbit, but I said fool proof! Let's make it that way.
5. As you know the potential a player has is split into 2 numbers. If a players potential is 95, his actual potential is 9, the 5 is what kind of player he is, remember that from before? Did you say no? why are you still here? hit this link: players.ehm 101
6. Ok, I think we can go on now. If this players potential is 95, what kind of player is he? well, 5 is a two-way forward or defensive defenceman right? (goalies do not apply to this rule, 95 is 95 for them) So what relevant stats does he need? Maybe some defense and offense at the same time? If he is a defenceman, he needs lots of defense. So if my player is 95, and his ceilings for checking, marking and hitting are bad, is he really a two way forward at all? He is playing away from his role!
Another stat to consider in the injury prone number, how good is your power forward if he is constantly on the IR, but I suppose that apply's to all players.
You can draft all the 95 pot, and 80 con guys you want, but if his relevant ceilings don't match his role, he will not develop in the right places. I liked a guy who was a 91 (sniper) and his ceilings for passing were great, but his shooting turned out to be a 73 ceiling. Some sniper. So all I did here was one extra step to what most seasoned pros know about scouting the players.ehm file. For those of you who didn't know how to do it at all, this was really written for you anyway. Most of the time I like opinions, but before you even came here to read this I said on the main page "I will simply offer you what I have found to be affective come draft time and you decide if it might work for you." So you were warned that this was all an opinion, so all negative comments for this section can be directed to that wall over there =======>.
Ok, that was too confusing/shady take me to No Cheat
