* this is not literal, you cannot actually add teams and leagues, this will explain how to edit teams and the NHL
1.1. Picking the Team: The first thing your going to want to do, is pick the City where your team will be from. (Eg. Halifax, Winnipeg, Alaska.) The next thing your gonna want to do is decided on a team name. (Eg. Outlaws, Road Runners). The Choice is yours, but remember your should have a logo of some sort that matches your team name. Some people like the name of a team to mean or contribute something to the city that your picked, but I disagree. I like having city's, with interesting names.
1.2. Picking a Conference / Division: This part is completely up to you, but I try to keep Eastern based teams in the east and vice versa. Picking a Conference and Division really becomes hard when you are making a hole new league, but that is later on.
1.3. Putting it all together: Now that you have your City, Team name, Division, and Conference, its time to put it all together. Open up your config_teams.ehm You will see all 30 teams in alphabetical order.
Now making your own Expansion team, will mean deleting one of the 30 teams already present. What team u choose to delete is all up to you, but u might be causing your self more work than you wanted. First ask your self what teams are in the Division u want your team to be in. (Eg. North West = Van, Edm, Cgy, Min, Col) to put your team in this division or any other, you will need to delete the info present for one of these teams and write in your own. So say I'm going to replace the Calgary Flames.
Calgary Flames ---------- Full Name.
Pengrowth Saddle dome --------- Rink Name.
17139 ---------- Rink Capacity.
1 -----Franchise Security (low-1-5-high) *How much Money*
So what I have now done is replaced the Calgary Flames with the Seattle Attack. This makes the list of teams out of order, but hey that doesn't really matter much.
1.4. Creating the Logo / Arena Pics: Your team Logo can be anything you want, but your probably going to want something that matches the team name or close to it. Your going to need 3 copy's of the Image.
a. This image must be 38 x 38 (very Small) Eg.
Once you have your image the right size name it SEA.jpg
Your going to put it here:
Your going to put it here:
Your going to put it here:
C:\Program Files\Eastside Hockey Manager\pictures\arenas
There are many programs used to shrink Images, Adobe Photoshop works
very well, and that's what I use. Make sure your images are the right
size or the wont be clear in the game.
2. Creating Expansion Rosters. -this section done by outside source, contact info. is below.
When creating expansion rosters aren't that hard. You open the roster you want to use with ehm and open it with the player editor. Then take the team you are now using for ex. you take out minnesota then you have to go to MIn and make all of there players to juniors, no rights and no draft by. Also i nthe editor make sure that you have tkane out all of the career stats from Career statistics editor. You don't have to do this but if you want to have it so that the players havn't played for any nhl teams before. Once you have moved the nhl players and farm players to free agent, before you do all of this make you sure that write down the former teams rookies so that you can send them to free agent. Also before you do this go into the roster and decide on your roster that you want to use. I have to set of rules that you can use. I have Leaf fans rules:
1st-open up a new league and call it expansion. go to team info and make every team human controlled GM.
2nd-Get a peace of paper, and go into the farm team tab. You are about to start your expansion Draft.
3rd-You can only choose 1 player from each team. Any minnor league player with a line through there name or sort the pro roster by overall rating and the bottom 5 with the line through them. giving your self a total of 30 players.
4th-go to the draft central tab and choose past drafts. Now here you get to choose 1 player per round from the 2001 draft, but you have the 11th pick each round so you cant take any of the first 10 picks each round.
For the drafting rookies part, it all depends on the roster you are using.
2000-01 roster use the 2000 draft
You can keep the rookies your old team that you got rid of has or you can change that’s all up to you.
1stnd-open up a new league and call it expansion. Go to team info and make every team human controlled GM.
3rd-Get a peace of paper, and go into the farm team tab. You are about to start your expansion Draft.
4th-You can only choose 1 player from each team. Any minor league player with a line through there name. giving your self a total of 30 players.
5th-go to the draft central tab and choose past drafts. Now here you get to choose 1 player per round from the 2001 draft, but you have the 11th pick each round so you cant take any of the first 10 picks each round. (note: For the time being use 2001 until post-draft rosters are made or the roster editor will crash!)
6th-Your almost ready now, open your player editor and trade all of Minnesota and Houston to FA by making there NHL rights to NONE.
7th-Now sort the editor by team by clicking over the Team tab and holding Ctrl, this will sort the players by team, now just go put all your players to MIN and start a New league when your done.
8th-Now when the season starts you won't have a full roster so now you can go sign free agents, but make sure you check your budget first cause its going to be tight.
Note: its a good idea to pick up some high salary players and not resign them or trade them or you will have a major budget problem... if you don’t do that you will be 2-4 Million over budget…
After you have drafted your 30 nhl players go into the editor and put them on to your nhl/farm team which ever one you want. Now the problem is you will only have 30 players you won’t have a full farm roster so then you have to go out and sign some free agents.
