Established
September of 2001 (thats when the Fantasy Team draft started).
Current Season
We just finished season 5, and are shortly before the entry draft.
Commissioners
Shakes! The one and only ;=) Greatest workaholic among EHM commishes
I've met. Didnt miss a single sim in 5 seasons!!!
Simming Speed, Length & Presentation
Regular Season & Playoffs => 2 EHM days every real day with live
presentation on IRC [#ehl -> starchat].
During the playoffs playbyplay live presentation for every game with
the GM in the channel (if requested).
After every season theres a break of about 3 real weeks with a GM meeting
weekend used to to make descisions on updated rules and ehancing the
league.
I am sure quiete a few leagues were inspired by us in the past (but
so are we of other quality ones =)
GMs, Nationality & Language
Nationalities: Mostly Canada & USA! Exceptions: André from
Brazil, James from Finland & me from Germany. Most GM's are able
to type well in english (we even have a journalist), and those that
cant have found other ways of communication. Example: 'WAT FOR HOLIK?'
14 of the current 29 GMs have been with EHL since season 1 (some even
before, before EHM came out, these guys played EA's NHL game together),
and most of them still have their original team. Shakes: "One little
mention on the GMS/Nationality/Language section: My old league the XFHL
using the old EA games also went 5 seasons so some GMS will have been
there for 11 seasons!"
Communication
Communication is mostly done through IRC, aided by the forum when useful
(trade blocks, trades, important infos, etc). This is the biggest advantage
of the league, the irc community is the most active with up to 15 GM's
usually and more then 20 actively taking part on busy days like the
trade deadline. MSN is rarely used as well.
Rules
Hmmz, too much to list now. But here is some important stuff:
- Use of players.ehm banned
- No salary cap
- player agents for UFA's to make more realistic descisions (otherwise
a salary cap would be needed)
- draft lottery
- lots more
Trades & Consistency
Theres a group of staff members looking over the deals to avoid clear
ripoffs. In general trading is VERY lenient though. There is no system
in place to control consistency besides EHM itself. The use of players.ehm
file is forbidden, a code of honor. Some call it ancient, but the league
is happy with the success so far.

But then again I need lots of time for this and the release of the NHL
EHM demo isnt helping ;=)
Magazine
Currently out of order. But we had quiete a lot nice work put in there,
and with the new page it will be revived soon ;=)
EHM Knowledge/GM profile
EHM knowledge is a requirement. However we aid new GM's well (check
out this 20page EHM manual, written by journalist Eric Welsh)by pointing
them to fhockey. Inexperienced GM's are also able to join as assistant
GM's.
NHL-EHM Switch
No, since porting the roster over to NHL EHM is impossible.
But there seems to be quiete the interest in starting/joining a NHL
EHM league among some GM's. Shakes is also interested.
