Eastside Hockey Super League

(trust me, there is an excellent reason for that)
Sim Schedule:
Regular season sims are twice a week, Wednesday and Sunday in North
America. One sim week simmed per sim.
Playoff and Supremacy Cup (international tournament) sims are daily,
two days simmed per sim.
Time Required Per Day:
The Commissioners usually spend a lot of their time during the day on
the forums, and dealing with league business. General managers just
need to check the forums regularly.
Sim Presentation:
Sims are generally done live on the EHSL IRC room (#EHSL on StarChat),
with postings of results and, if a quick alteration is required after
a game, the general manager can request it with no trouble (aside from
the fact that Cannibal will take your firstborn, but you get used to
that). Sims also feature Daniel Long, the famous ehslbot, and how is
that not a plus?
Sim results are also posted on the board with the SGF for easy reference.
Forms of Communication:
General managers can receive, should they wish it, an '@ehsl.net' e-mail
address for easy, simple e-mail communication. Also used are MSNIM,
AOLIM/ICQ, and IRC, depending on the preferences of the general manager.
Message boards are, as have been repeatedly mentioned, also used, and
they run on recent phpBB software.
Language/Origin of GMs:
The majority of GMs are North American, however, a quick search reveals:
an Englishman
a Norweigian
a number of Swedes
a bunch of Germans
Finns, of course
and more!
Sims are done in English.
Players.EHM Stuff:
players.ehm is not masked or anything, and consistency increases/decreases
as used in EHM are fully implemented. However, GMs with inconsistent
players can have their consistency boosted through the use of Captain's
Meetings. One captain's meeting bestows five consistency points on the
wearer.
Trading Limitations:
Trades are very much left in the hands of the general managers. However,
if trades occur that do not seem to be in the best interests of the
league, the commissioner will happily smiteth them verily.
Number of Commissioners:
There are two main commissioners (Cannibal/Labinnac and Andi) who are
in charge of day-to-day running of the league. The Edmonton GM (me)
handles the Supremacy Cup international tournament, and fan is the AHSL
(minor-league) Guy even though he doesn't actually sim anything. He
thinks his EOHL is a real league too, which is cute. But we humour him.
Current EHM Season:
The EHSL is currently simming the 2005-06 regular season, with the second
annual Supremacy Cup due to go in the summer.
Roster Package Used:
How old are we? The rosters used are Jan Smetana's ancient rosters from
before the 2001-02 season. That's how old we are!
Real prospects aren't added to later drafts. What, are we going to
scout out bantam players so we can plunk them in or something?
Website:
Look up. http://www.angelfire.com/games5/ehsl
Magazine:
The EHSL website has a wonderful mini-magazine updated whenever Tib
feels like it. Actually, it's just a page, but it has wonderful articles.
Rules:
The EHSL has a bunch of rules, notable amongst which are a 50-man contract
limit and a salary cap currently in the process of being eased down
to a maximum budget of $65 million.
Hall of Fame:
The EHSL has a Hall of Fame with categories for builders, players, and
'honorary members' which is guys who didn't play well but should be
in the HoF anyway.
All-Star Game:
The EHSL has a standard North America/World All-Star Game, with the
first annual AHSL All-Star Game also due to go this season.
Awards Ceremonies:
Awards presented are, for the most part, the same as the defaults in
EHM, however, several AHSL awards (some slightly ignomious) such as
the Homeland Defense Minister's Trophy and, of course, the great Mark
Mowers Award, are also distributed.
EHM Knowledge Required:
How does 'enough' float your boat? We have guys who were newbies to
EHM online simming when they joined (like me), and guys who'd been doing
it for years. Hell, we even have one guy who has a Mac and can't actually
play EHM! He just gets things done by looking through all the files!
Now that's dedication!
NHL-EHM Switch:
Nope.
The EHSL: It's a lifestyle!
