Scouting in NHL:EHM

So you want to scout. A lot of things can be done to scout your players, it will still leave you with the decision to make on your own, but at least the ideas will be there.

First let's start with scouting players on your own team. This will also show you how to use scouts.

1. Select the general manager menu in the top menu to get the pulldown menu. From that menu, select Player & Staff Search.

2. You will see 3 pulldown menus at the top, or near the top. They will say Scouts, Assign Scout (or recall scout if he is already assigned) and View. To the far right of them is 3 more that say Delete, Search and Filters.

3. Select Scouts and pick a scout.

4. Now that you have selected a scout, you can assign him somewhere. Select Assign Scout to the right of your scout menu.

5. You have a wide array of places you can assign him, for this example we will choose 'Team'. The list of teams in the league you are currently playing will appear and you will also be able to use the other menus on this screen to select other teams from everywhere.

6. Simply pick who you would like to scout, it will take you to the teams roster. In the lower right corner is a button that says 'Select Team'. You must hit this button to assign your scout to this team.

7. Once you say yes to assigning this scout to this team, you will be brought back to the main menu. From here you may start from #2 in this tutorial again.

I hope that helps and clears up the first part of scouting. Now let's use our scouts some more!

Let's scout players to see if they are ready for the NHL yet. You may use this on any teams players, but for now, we will use our unsigned prospects.

1. Go to your unsigned prospects. You can go there by selecting 'Roster' and the 'Filter' and select 'Unsigned Prospects'.

2. Once you are on your unsigned prospects, select any player.

3. Once you have a player open, use the 'Action' tab to select 'Scout Player'.

4. It takes a little while, but your scouts will get back to you with a scouting report. It will appear as a news item and will inform you where they think the player is at that point in time in regards to your pro team. The player will also carry with him a very valuable scouting record from your scouts in his player profile. Select a players Scout Report after you scout him and you will have a lot of information about where your scout thinks this player is at, and what his role is.

TIDBITS:

1. Want to see scouting reports for players at any time? Open a player and notice that there is a 'Scout Report' option in the left menu, right above Bio. If this option is not lit up, you have not scouted this player.

2. Ask for a coaches point of view. Select a player on your pro team or your minor league team and use the Action tab to select Request Coach Report. The report will show up automatically in your news items and it will tell you the coaches feelings on the player on the team right now.

3. Scout and rescout. If you assign a scout to watch players in the upcoming draft, they will report back to you with names that they think are players you should look at. These appear in the news area every so often. Select these players that are mentioned and go to Action - Scout Player. You will get a more in depth look at this player after a while from a few of your scouts. This will help you when drafting!
